deepak sharmaNew Delhi : Is Delhi LG a Reliance man ? Can an enquiry be initiated against President Pranab Mukherji ? The questions are raised by Senior Advocate of Supreme Court Prashant Bhushan. The head of the State Pranab Mukherjee has been accussed of seeking favours from Essar when he was Finance Minister. The lawyer who got the secret files of Essar feels that the  charges against Pranab Mukherji are of a serious nature but  presently cannot be contested in a court of law.
In an exclusive TV interview to India Samvad, senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan said that documents suggest that Essar bought every influential person in India. From media persons to bureaucrats and India’s Petroleum Minister to Finance minister, those who matter were obliged by Essar company. “As Finance Minister Pranab Mukherji sought favours from Essar. There exists a series of emails to corroborate this. It’s an act of misuse of office and it violates the Prevention of Corruption Act.  Pranab cannot be prosecuted as President of India but once he retires ( in 2017) an FIR can be registered against him, said the anti-corruption crusader.
During oath ceremony of President of India, a gulfstream jet aircraft was flown to kolkatta to ferry Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee and her team of ministers and MPs. Mamta’s office has clarified that aircraft was arranged by Pranab Mukherji and that government of West Bengal has nothing to do with the chartering of Essar aircraft. According to Prashant Bhushan, Chief Minister  Mamta Banerjee should be examined so that it could be ascertained that on whose instruction Essar plane was flown from Delhi to Kolkatta. “There is sufficient evidence against corporate-government nexus. I feel that case is made out against Essar and the VIPs obliged by the company. Regarding Mr Pranab Mukherji, the decision could be taken once he retires from office.
The former AAP leader also said that Delhi LG Najeeb Jung is Reliance man. In late nineties Mr Bhushan filed a PIL against reliance relating to controversial allocation of  Panna mukta oilfields. “ There were emerging links between Reliance and Mr Jung who was then Joint Secretary(exploration) in Ministry of Petroleum.Later Mr Jung joined Oberver Foundation, an institution run by Reliance,” said Mr Bhushan.
