New Delhi, Oct 19:  
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered First Information Report against Jindal Steel & Power in coal block allocation case. This is 36th FIR in the coal case.
The issue involved here is allocation of Gare Palma IV/1 coal block in Chhattisgarh to Jindal Strips Ltd which is now known as JSPL after demerger way back in 2002-2003. Besides the company, the FIR also included “unknown public servants under section 120 B, 409 and 420 of Indian penal Code (IPC) and sections 13(1)(C), 13(1)(D) of Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.”
A senior CBI official said that allegations pertain to irregular mining lease beyond the approved area, excess coal mining, sale of coal, sale of coal fines and rejects, irregular consumption of coal in new extension plants.
