PROTEST PROGRAMME ON BHALIAGUDA FAKE ENCOUNTER -

PROTEST PROGRAMME  ON BHALIAGUDA FAKE ENCOUNTER  -

You know that Odisha is not the so-called terrorist affected state of Jammu & Kashmir or a Northeast state like Manipur, where the security forces can kill anybody under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). But here Security forces can kill civilians and innocent tribal and Dalits branding them as Maoists. In the morning of 14th November, 2012 at Bhaliaguda forest area (the bordering area of Gajapati- Ganjam and Kandhamal district), the D.I.G of southern zone, S.P of Ganjam district declared in a press conference that 5 Maoists were killed by an encounter with the security forces & purchasing police version, all the electronics & print media campaign day and night as ‘that was a big achievement of police forces against Maoists”.
But truth was very far from the campaign of state machinery using media houses. Five innocent persons from tribal and dalit communities of Kandhamal district were brutally murdered cold-bloodedly and later it was constructed in a manner to picture it as an encounter. The deceased Ayub Pradra of Bujuli Village, Syamson Majhi of Bhinguruguda and Ghasiram Bagsingh of Mardipanka village, Sanatan Mallik of Gaheju village under Brahmanigam P.S and Laxmikanta Naik of Tikabali P.S shot dead by police gun, were rather known for social activism and taking the whistleblower role to stop malpractices by some elected PRI members.
Condemning the whole episode of police action of November 14 as a fake encounter, members of the rights organizations demanded a judicial probe by a sitting judge of Odisha High Court, to consider the incident as a case of murder by police and lodge 302 of IPC against murderer police officials and also raised demand for compensation of Rs.10 lakh to each of the deceased family. The widow wives of deceased persons and their family members including various people’s organizations were staged a protest in front of Odisha Secretariat on 30th November, 2014 and subsequently submitted memorandum to the Governor as well as organized protest Dharana in front of Collector, Kandhamal on 14th Nov, 2013. A writ petition has also filed in Odisha High Court by the wives of deceased persons with a pray for CBI inquiry of the fake encounter.
But, till yet the widow wives of deceased persons and family members have not get justice and the District Collector has not taken any step regarding the issue even after letter by Honorable Governor as well as after the representation by them on 14th Nov, 2013.
So, demanding justice the family members, wives of deceased persons, common public, members of different political and democratic organizations, human right activists are going to organize a one hour protest atMaster Canteen Square on 14th Nov, 2014 at 10 amwith the association of ‘Campaign Against Fabricated Cases, Odisha.’
Therefore, I request you to participate in that One Hour Protest Programme as solidarity towards their legitimate demand.
With Regards,
